Android, iOS, WP7, and Bada?

by Da'Von B.

Consider this an interesting little nugget of news, Wall Street Journal is stating that Samsung may open source their in-house operating system; Bada. This isn’t too much of a surprise if you consider that they’ve been primarily dependent on Android made by Google who announced a month ago their intent to buy Motorola who also makes Android hardware who competes against Samsung (interesting Circle of Life).

Though history may suggest that this simply won’t work out too well for Samsung (see Nokia & Symbian), there may be a chance for them to be successful with this idea, though apparently it won’t see the light of day until 2012 so company execs must be mulling over the options and the best way to ease on their dependence of Google and seek out a stronger alternative whether that be Bada or Windows Phone 7.

All in all the three most popular OS’s seem to be taking shape in the form of Android, iOS, and Windows Phone 7 or WP7 (can’t wait for Microsoft to change the name of that OS), the potential for a strong fourth is questionable and sales may not be substantial but anything’s possible, we’ll see how this all shapes out.
